The 2024 Taylor Swift Tours are expected to increase demand for travel in Europe.

The 2024 Taylor Swift Tours are expected to increase demand for travel in Europe.

There has been a noticeable increase in interest in traveling to Europe, primarily due to American singer and performer Taylor Swift.

Based on Amadeus flight search statistics, there has been a 21% increase in international searches for flights to Paris, France, especially for stays of seven days or longer, which coincide with Swift’s 2024 Eras tour dates. Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, The Netherlands, Norway, and the United States all exhibit similar trends.

International visitors to Madrid preferred trips lasting seven days or longer, with flight search volumes increasing by an average of 23% for this period. By contrast, shorter trips were preferred by Spanish domestic passengers, who rose by 18% during the same time.

According to eDreams, demand for flights to Stockholm—which coincides with Taylor Swift’s performance dates—has significantly increased, climbing sixfold when compared to the same period last year. Flights to Warsaw, Edinburgh, Liverpool, and Paris witnessed increases in demand of 339%, 176%, 133%, and 108%, respectively, during Swift’s concert dates.

The transatlantic demand increased significantly, according to the Barcelona-based travel agency, suggesting that American admirers of Taylor Swift were eager to visit Europe for her concerts. In addition to the top five locations, Taylor’s scheduled performances in Zurich, Lyon, Milan, Amsterdam, Vienna, and Madrid saw a discernible increase in travel demand.

Amadeus Travel Trends 2024 revealed a new trend among travelers: going to concerts and festivals is becoming more and more combined with travel. Nearly half of Spaniards (49%), 48% of Brits, 44% of Germans, and 34% of French tourists had previously gone to attend a concert or festival, spending at least one night away from home, according to a YouGov research initiative conducted across four European markets for Amadeus.

Germans are the most daring foreign music event visitors, having traveled overseas for shows 18% of the time, compared to 11% of Spaniards, 9% of British, and 7% of French music lovers.

In terms of expenditure, 58% of British visitors said they would rather spend less than €380 in the future, a choice that was also voiced by 40% of French and Spanish passengers and 39% of German travelers. Yet, compared to just 9% of British music lovers, 15% of Germans and 13% of Spanish and French music fans who had previously traveled for a music event were willing to spend more than €600 for a comparable experience.

When going for a live music event, almost 79% of Spanish travelers said they intend to visit the place; this compares to 67% of French travelers, 64% of British passengers, and 58% of German travelers. Furthermore, 43% of respondents from Spain said they would like to go to a musical performance with friends, compared to 38% of French, 37% of British, and 32% of German respondents.
