The airport in Munich is closed again because of bad weather, and people are not encouraged to visit the airport.

A disappointed visitor reported spending almost 9 hours on hold with an airline while attempting to rebook his ticket amidst the continued congestion at Munich Airport, Germany’s second largest airport. Freezing rain forced the suspension of flight operations until noon, making safe morning flights unfeasible. The airport aimed to resume flights post-midday after de-icing the runways, but warned that most flights for the day might be canceled for safety reasons. Passengers were advised not to come to the airport without flight confirmation. Complaints about canceled flights and subpar airline services were all over social media. Munich Airport responded, citing the unusual snowfall as a first-time occurrence. The interruption, induced by severe snowfall since Saturday, worsened, leading to 230 canceled flights out of 840 booked on the previous day. Lufthansa, a major airline at the airport, announced extra flight cancellations due to frozen equipment. Both the airport and airlines urged passengers to check their flight status online before heading to the airport. Train services were also severely affected, with Deutsche Bahn recommending travel postponement until at least December 5. Passengers were granted flexibility for ticket use, alternative routes, and refunds due to the weather. Regional train services around Munich were gradually improving, but connections to Innsbruck, Salzburg, and Zurich were yet to resume. Social media continued to be a platform for passenger frustrations, highlighting lengthy phone call waits and calls for assistance. Despite problems, some passengers tweeted positive snow-filled photographs from Munich.
