Nearly 14,000 Indian visa applications were denied by Switzerland in 2022.

Nearly 14,000 Indian visa applications were denied by Switzerland in 2022.

Indian nationals had a 13.2% refusal rate on their visa applications, with a total of 13,984 applications being turned down, according to Schengen Statistics. However, 106,025 applications received a positive answer, making the overall issuance rate for Indians 84%.

Indians have the 30th-lowest rejection rates among other nations, which suggests that fewer candidates are getting turned down. With a rejection rate of 55.1%, Pakistani nationals are the most likely, followed by Ghanaians (46.5%) and Congolese (41.5%). The final two countries on the list, Algeria and Argentina, have rejection rates of 39.9 and 35%, respectively.

The rejection rates for nationals of Sri Lanka, Nepal, Kyrgyzstan, Cuba, and Senegal range from 39.9 to 30.1 percent. Due to a spike in requests, the Swiss embassy in New Delhi earlier announced a temporary suspension of Schengen visa applications for Indian tours until October.

To assure prompt visa processing and increase the profitability of group tours, tour operators are working to organize group travel outside of India. However, staff shortages at Swiss embassies are making it difficult to process a lot of requests.

A passport, passport pictures, copies of prior visas, a completed and signed visa application form, and other materials are required of foreign applicants seeking a Schengen visa for Switzerland. They also need to show proof of appropriate financial resources, a round-trip flight schedule, proof of lodging in Switzerland, and travel insurance, among other things.
